HYPER-MASTIC scientific project's subject is the research, development and commercial production of unique phytotherapeutic products with hypertensive action. The products will be based in Chios mastic, a well-established since antiquity, exclusively Greek phytotherapeutic substance, that has lately been registered by the EU as a product of Protected Designation of Origin.

This scientific research project is carried out by Academical and Corporate entities in cooperation. In fact, these entities have already worked together extensively, and have successful preliminary results available. Within the HYPER-MASTIC project, “green” technologies of extraction and isolation will be applied, to form the chemical definition of Chios mastic bioactive ingredients. Furthermore, brand-new and innovative quality control methods will be established, to restrict the large-scale phenomena of Chios mastic adulteration.
